Reflect & Write

What is this?

A quiet place to reflect on your goals, your needs, your feelings and your life, and to untangle at least a little of it. Or simply to face it honestly.

Why I made it

For a while I felt confused about a lot of things in my life, and about a lot of feelings. I wanted to unravel them and have a calmer mind, and journaling felt like the way to do it.

Some days, though, my head was so full I didn't know where to begin. Other days there was only confusion. What helped was having a question to start from, even a vague one, and slowly connecting it to my own life and what I was feeling.

I also didn't want to keep everything I wrote. Some of it was sad, some of it was angry, and having those pages around sometimes fed the very feelings I was trying to put down. But there were other pages I did want to keep. So I made a place where you can do either, and I made it for everyone.

Who it's for

Anyone who wants to reflect on any part of their life, or on any feeling they have: career, love, loss, anxiety, studies, gratitude, motivation, or something that doesn't have a name yet.

I hope you leave a bit calmer, a bit unravelled, and a little less confused.

How it works

Every day there are three questions to start from. Step past them to a fourth and ask yourself your own, or ignore them all and just write.

When you're done, burn it, release it into the wind, or keep it as a sealed letter you download.

Where the questions come from

I collect them from many places, and I write some of them myself. If there's a question that helped you, I'd love to hear it. Suggestions are always welcome on the Say hi page.

Private by design

What you write never leaves your browser. There are no accounts, no servers storing your words, no cookies and no ads. Your current draft is saved in this browser only, so it's still here if you close the tab. Once you burn, release or keep a page, it's gone from the site.

Anything you keep is a file on your own device, so clearing your browsing data can't take it with it.

To know how many people visit, the site uses Vercel's privacy-friendly analytics. It only counts page visits, without cookies or following you to other sites, and it never sees anything you write.

Free, always

Reflect & Write will never be monetised in any way. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to buy, no ads, ever.

If things feel heavy

Writing can help, but it isn't a substitute for talking to someone. If you're struggling, reach out to someone you trust or a helpline near you; you can find one at findahelpline.com. If you're in danger, call your local emergency number.
